Pursuant to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA), members of the public have the right to access public data maintained by government agencies, including the Hastings Police Department. This form is intended to facilitate your request for law enforcement data. Please complete the fields below as thoroughly as possible to help us locate the information you are seeking. Some data may be classified as not public and therefore may be restricted from disclosure. Requests will be processed in a timely manner in accordance with Minnesota law.

Please use this form when requesting law enforcement data only.  All law enforcement data requests are processed in accordance with departmental policy and MN Data Practices laws under MN State Statutes 13.04 Subd. 3 and 13.82 and 13.825.  Some police reports older than seven (7) years may have been disposed of and no longer available per retention guidelines.  See Retention Guidelines for an inventory of police records and retention periods.   

Informed consent is written permission by an individual to allow a government entity to release the individual's private data to another.  If the data you are requesting contains private data about another person, such as Body Worn Camera Video data, you will need to provide the other person's written permission using the Hastings Police Department Informed Consent - Release of Law Enforcement Data form to receive their data.
